Rich Rahlf had the good fortune to go through a fantastic music program at
Mason City High School in Iowa, where he played trumpet and also started
playing guitar. Upon graduation, he joined the military, playing trumpet and
guitar in various ensembles. Rich attended the University of Northern Iowa,
playing lead trumpet in Jazz 1. Rich joined touring band in 1986, and while
on the road met up with the Morningstar Showband, joining the group in
1988 and has been affiliated ever since. Rich have been teaching guitar and
trumpet privately through the store for 9 years. His current projects include
any number of side gigs, and his full-time band Love Funnel, in which he
plays bass and trumpet, and also provides some vocals. If you are thinking
of starting an instrument, Rich highly recommends it, as it has proved to be
an endless source of enjoyment and spirituality for him.
Alyson has been playing piano since she was 5 years old. Her style ranges
from Classical to Contemporary and from Broadway to New Age. As a
senior in high school she competed in a Naples Music Club competition and
won one of the top awards. That same year she was awarded a Steinway
Society scholarship for being the top pianist competitor, and then attended
a summer music camp at Oberlin’s Conservatory of Music. In the past she
has performed off 5th Avenue South and has entertained at wine tastings
and weddings. Alyson has been teaching piano for 9 years. Currently her
youngest student is 5 years old.As her students progress she introduces a
simplified book of classical pieces. She also allows her student to choose
what they want to learn, making the process and environment fun and
enjoyable. Her students also learn to read and appreciate music.
Gordon Banks is a New Jersey transplant where he taught and played
Piano and Keyboards throughout Atlantic City including Harrah’s Atrium
Lounge and the Tropicana Lobby. For the past few years he has been the
“in house” solo pianist for the Naples Beach Hotel. As a teacher, Gordon’s
focus is on sight reading, counting, and chord styles, leaning towards a
contemporary and well rounded sound. Students from 7 years to
adulthood with any and all skill levels are welcome!
Drew is the Head percussion instructor at Morningstar Music. During his 20
year career he has taught over 15,000 lessons and has spent
approximately 25,000 hours practicing. He has studied under many great
instructors and master drummers including Giovanni Hidalgo at the
Berklee World Percussion Festival. Drew has toured with Chuck Reiney
and Elliot Randall of Steely Dan. His percussion ensemble Patoombah
performed for an audience of 250,000 in 1993 opening for Phish,
Widespread Panic, and the Allman Brothers. Drew currently performs solo
percussion at Club Ultra and with the rock band Love Funnel. Drew has
been teaching percussion at Morningstar Music for 9 years, and focuses
the drumming program on fun, improvisation, reading, rudiments, and
multiple styles of percussive instruments.
Christian has been studying guitar for 9 years. He is currently working on
his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance at Florida Gulf Coast
University and performs in a guitar trio focusing mainly on jazz and
classical styles. He has taught sight singing and ear training sessions at
the Bower School of Music Facility.
With experience in all finger styles, pick styles and extensive training in
music theory, Christian teaches with an emphasis on technique, theory,
ear training, fretboard knowledge, overall discipline and most importantly,
FUN! He welcomes acoustic, electric, and classical guitar students of all
ages and experience levels!
Dean Murphy has been playing guitar and bass semi-professionally since
his sophomore year in high school performing in various jazz and
background gigs. When he graduated from Lely High School he was elected
"Most Musically Inclined" by the student body. Dean has played countless
gigs in every genre ranging from small jazz duo's and trio's to extended
touring with local industrial metal band Cellpan which has played shows
with the likes of Dope, Mushroomhead, Superjoint Ritual, Psyopus, as well
as recording for bands as far as Nashville. Dean specializes in progressive
metal, beginning jazz, rock, metal, and also specializes in slap bass. Dean
is proficient in music theory and is an experienced studio player.

Joe Fusco is happy to announce his partnership with Morningstar Music of
Naples as teacher of voice and orchestral stringed instruments; violin,
viola, cello and bass. Joe brings 34 years of music teaching experience and
holds a BA in Music Ed. from Glassboro State College in NJ. Wile teaching
for the Bridgeton Public Schools in NJ, Joe also sang and played bass
throughout Philadelphia, South Jersey, and Atlantic City. Joe holds a
Certificate to teach in Florida. Joe welcomes his present students from
East Naples Middle School where he has been the Chorus and Orchestra
Director from 2006-09, and new students of all ages.
